Alden Richards was officially casted as the new Matteo Do by Joyce Bernal who will direct the Philippine version. The director claims in an interview: 'Excited akong simulan itong My Love From The Star. Akala ko makakapagbakasyon ako after That’s My Amboy.

A lot of female stars were listed as Steffi Cheon. First is the list was Jennylyn Mercado who was also rumored to have bagged the role already. The actress, on the other hand, did not confirm anything but says that she would love to play the role.
