Hundreds of staff members and volunteers of the Department of Welfare and Development (DSWD) are busy packing boxes of goods for the relief operations for victims of super typhoon 'Lawin' at the main office of the government agency in Pasay City.
Php 1.2 Billion has been released by DSWD as standby funds.
The goods were placed inside boxes instead of plastic bags. Each box contains 6 kg. of rice, 6 packs of 3-in-1 coffee, 8 pieces of canned goods which are good for 3 days per family.
The boxes are placed in assembly lines on conveyor belts manned by volunteers to ensure immediate distribution of the relief goods to the victims.
DSWD ensures help for all the victims will be given even though the typhoon is still inside the country.
