Before the final results of the 65th Miss Universe pageant were announced, fans were almost certain that Miss Thailand would win the crown.
Chalita Suansane was a crowd favorite and most people expected her to take over after Pia Wurtzbach. Suansane almost did not make it to the top thirteen last Monday, but thanks to the online poll that was conducted, she got the thirteenth spot; helping her move on to the crucial rounds.
However, fans were unable to help her further when it was her turn to face the question and answer portion. It is believed that this was the reason for her failure to secure a place in the final three. Suansane finished at fourth place.
Miss France was declared the winner soon after. A considerable number of fans were disappointed, and, after the pageant, it was obvious that Suansane was not exactly happy with the results either.

In a short clip taken after the pageant, Suansane was warmly greeted and comforted by her fans.
Suansane was one of the favorites to win the crown this year. Fans were convinced that her appearance and interesting background - the 21-year-old is a microbiology student - would help her win the pageant. She even won over some Filipino fans.
However, according to an article posted by ABS-CBN, Suansane wanted her fans to know that she was fine. She even added the obligatory "mahal ko kayo" for her Filipino fans.
