Charice Pempengco is a world renowned singer whose rise to fame began with song covers on Youtube. She gained worldwide recognition after an avid supporter, False Voice, started posting a series of her performances on YouTube, making her an internet sensation.
Charice was then discovered by Oprah Winfrey, who dubbed her as "the most talented girl in the world." In 2010, she released a self-titled international studio album that landed in the 8th spot on the Billboard 200 albums chart, making her the first-ever Asian solo singer in history to enter the Billboard’s top 10.

In 2012, Charice began to change her appearance. Her new hairstyle, which according to her was “edgy and rock,” received harsh remarks from netizens.
“I know some people think that this is very rebellious but it’s not. It’s just me evolving,” Charice said.
Then in 2013, Charice started wearing a more manly set of clothes which raised even more criticism online. The same year, Charice came out as a lesbian in an interview with multi-awarded host Boy Abunda.
In 2014, Charice started to exhibit even more manly tendencies. She got tattoos and donned a much shorter hairdo. She was also seen hitting the gym frequently.

In 2017, Charice revealed a complete identity change. Now going by the name of Jake Zyrus, Charice revealed his intentions of transitioning into the male gender. He revealed that he has already undergone breast removal and has started taking intravenous testosterone boosters.
“I underwent a top surgery,” he told News5.
Despite negative reactions from netizens, many fans still praised his transformation. Jake Zyrus also shared that he is happy with his decision.
“I’m so happy kasi sobrang—hindi naman sa ano—pero maganda. I know hindi pa ako nagpapa-sex transplant, pero I feel complete,” Jake said.
