Music has always been a mirror and often times, incredibly relevant in the shaping of history. It reflects a time period's political and social atmosphere, and it leaves a noticeable imprint on history. Listening to music can relieve stress, too.
Throughout the years, hip-hop helped people release stress especially through rap songs. They also made a change in the entire music industry. Here are 20 rap songs that really changed the history of hip hop.
1. Eminem- Lose Yourself (2002) - it is included in the movie of Eminem entitled "8 Mile". This was the first rap song to win the Oscars. Surely, Eminem is the greatest rapper ever.

3. The Notorious B.I.G.- Juicy (1994) - it is one of the best songs ever recorded in the hip-hop industry and was a huge success for Biggie.
4. Jay Z- Dead Presidents (1996) - this song was a hit because of its amazing rhymes and flow.
5. Nas- NY State of Mind (1994) - the song discussed a shooting incident happened in New York. This song made Nas as one of the most prominent rappers.
6. 2Pac Ft. Dr Dre- California Love (1996) - the beats from Dr Dre and the lyrics of Tupac brought rap into a whole new level.
7. Eminem- Stan (2000) - he was known for his great ability to tell stories through rap songs.

8. Dr Dre Ft. Snoop Dogg- Nuthin' But a 'G' Thang (1992) - voted in the top three rap songs of all time, these two proved that they are legacies in the entire music scene.
9. Eric B. & Rakim- Paid In Full (1987) - Rakim and Eric B. collaborating became a very big news in the hip-hop industry.
10. Wu-Tang Clan- C.R.E.A.M. (1993) - the song has verses pertaining to money running people around. This was recorded as one of the best rap songs ever made.

13. Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five- The Message (1982) - it tackles the life of the inner city life in New York and many rappers look up to this hit song.
14. Common- I Used To Love H.E.R. (1994) - he was one of the greatest rappers by assigning gender to hip-hop.

15. Jay Z- 99 Problems (2003) - it has been one of the most discussed songs of the decade and discussed the New York Life of Jay in the 90s.
16. Mobb Deep- Shook Ones Part II (1995) - this song made a big hit in the 90s and unlike their first song, this one did not include any curse word.
17. 50 Cent- In Da Club (2003) - as he was guided and supported by Dr. Dre and Eminem, a lot expected something big from 50 Cent. The song is still being played in some clubs.
18. The Notorious B.I.G.- Hypnotize (1997) - it was one of the anthems to represent hip-hop. The song was released 8 days before Biggie died.
19. Lil Wayne- A Milli (2008) - as one of the most notable rappers of the new century, he was awarded a Grammy in 2009 for the Best Rap Solo Performance.
20. N.W.A.- Straight Outta Compton (1988) - they made people realize the issues being faced by most individuals on the streets.
