We all remember Randy Santiago back in the days when he was still hosting game shows in ABS-CBN together with John Estrada and Willie Revillame. Who could also forget the popular tambayan he owned which he named “Ratzky,” in honor of his damaged left eye which he always hides behind those iconic sunglasses of his.
No one really knows for sure what happened to his eye. Over time, people could only speculate the incident which resulted to his signature look. Some say that he had an accident when he was young, while others claim he fell from a motorcycle thus damaging his left eye.

Recently though, in an episode of Magandang Buhay hosted by Carla Estrada, Melai Cantiveros, and Jolina Magdangal, the famous actor/comedian/host revealed the real reason why his eye looks like that.
According to Randy, he had a surgery on his left eye when he was still in the second grade due to a cyst that formed just above his eyelid. Everything went well until the cyst grew back about a year after.

When the doctors went to operate on his eye again, they hit an important nerve which enables his eyelid to open and close. Because of this, his left eye couldn’t open fully.

Randy adds that he is thankful to his former classmates for not bullying him because of what his left eye looks like.
He also said that he only thought of wearing the iconic sunglasses later on when he was an adult.
