'Itong trabaho kung ito' ito ang ibinubuhay ko sa mga anak ko' - 63-Year-Old Man Is Proud Of Serving The Government By Cleaning Canals!

Most people are privilege to have a job that is suitable for them however, this advantage was not attained by everyone. If people will be asked which work would they prefer, cleaning canals or an office job most of them for sure, would want the latter.

People who would take this job are usually from low-income families. But let's face it, it's a job that someone has to do and luckily, there is a man who took the job that inspired everyone.

The story of Mang Boy who works in flood control got featured in D5 Stories Facebook Page and it inspired many netizens because of his dedication and to whom who is he doing this for.

Working in flood control, the 63-year-old Mang Boy's job is to collect the garbage in canals that disrupts the flow of drainage systems. His work might be unpleasant for others, but Mang Boy is proud because of his job, he is able to provide for his family.

"Itong trabaho kung ito' ito ang ibinubuhay ko sa mga anak ko," Mang Boy mentioned.  

According to Mang Boy, he was also able to get recycable materials, loose change and even jewelries in canals that he can sell.

"Kasi kadalasan nakakapulot ako diyan ng alahas talaga. Malalaman nila kung saan galing.... sa kanal! Merong pera sa kanal, talagang meron yan," Mang Boy said during his interview. 

As a flood control worker, Mang Boy discloses that many Filipino ignores their job because for them, it is worthless but what most people don't see is the effect of their job to them and to the surroundings.

"Ang trabaho namin, talagang flood control. Lahat gagawin namin, lahat ng dapat naming gawin para ika nga 'pag dumating 'yung oras na mangangailangan," Mang Boy said.

"Kaya hindi kami nagpapabaya. Meron kase minsan na taong hindi marunong umintindi sasabihin 'tatrabahuin ninyo, balewala rin.' Pero nakikita naman nila 'yung trabaho namin kung anong klase. 'Balewala yan, balewala yan,'" Mang Boy added. 

In spite of people not seeing their effort as flood control, he said that they're just laughing it off and they just go on and do their best in doing their job.

Getting sick is natural in their line of work, that is why Mang Boy said that when he's at home, he just drinks his medicine and booze in which he believes that it gives support to his body.

Soon enough, Mang Boy will retire in his job but he will still do the best he can to serve the goverment and he will always be proud of his job

"Dito sa serbisyo ko sa trabaho sa gobyerno, hanggang nandito ako, talagang gagawa't gagawa ako ng paraan," Mang Boy proudly said.
